Affording the help needed to stay home
The cost of assistant care is a growing concern for many people. As life expectancy continues to lengthen, more of us can expect to require some form of long-term care. When planning for care the costs involved can be daunting. Most of us would like to stay in our own homes as long as possible and that is one of the most affordable options available. Many believe that help in the home is too expensive for the average person, but the average cost of in-home assistance through SCHAS falls far below the median annual cost of care in a care facility.
This chart below shows a comparison of the average cost of services through SCHAS, and the assisted living facility Renaissance Terrace that SCHAS owns and operates, to other options available.
SCHAS works toward finding all resources and options available to seniors and persons with disabilities and their families. SCHAS is a provider of care for those in the Choices, National Family Caregiver, Title III, and Options programs. SCHAS also works with Veteran benefits. Some long-term care insurance policies cover certain in-home care services. We work with many long-term care insurance companies to bring you the covered services you need over the short or long term. When funding is secured SCHAS will help clients file their long-term insurance claims.
As a non-profit, United Way partner, we are able to offer up to 20 hours per month of in-home assistance at a sliding scale fee rate for those that do not qualify for government programs. A financial assessment is performed to obtain a reduced hourly rate for those that qualify.
